Ugh! Back ache after fill.....

Recommended Posts

Hi All! I had a fill on Monday... I have had so many fills since I have been banded I don't know which one it is? I was banded Dec. 22, 2009 and have lost nearly 140 lbs. My last fill was December. So, it's been awhile since I have been THIS restricted. I have mainly just had liquids since. The issue is that last night, under the right part of my ribcage toward the back I have a lot of pain... now today it is on both sides in about the same place.

Do you think this is related to the fill? It's been kinda rough, but really no throwing up or anything since I am watching very closely what I eat. If I overeat I get the pain in my left shoulder, never like this?

Ouch!

after my 4th fill (hard to remember exactly) but I would have pain shoot out from the middle of body where band is positioned thru the back of my shoulder blade on the right side (I always hear it is from the left side). Each fill would do that and the pain would last about 5 days until I lost a few pounds then quit. I was told that when filled it pressed on a nerve and that when I lost a few pounds that the pressure was taken off. The pain was something I could tolerate and even ignore to a point if you know what I mean. If it doesn't go away after a week then I think you might be a smidge too tight and need to get just a "smidge" taken out. The best thing is to talk it over with your doctor and get his/her opinon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
