How much weight have you lost on Liquid diet.....seriously?

Recommended Posts

I would really like to know how much weight people have actually lost on their liquid diet...I was reading a post where some one said 50lbs on a three week liquid diet considering I too am on a liquid diet for three weeks and in 8 days have only lost 14lbs. Plus what makes matters worst I just recieved my scale and now I will be stressing. What more water.. maybe I should do supressant or something seriously :(

Wow 14 lbs is good!! Keep it up :) I have lost 4-5 lbs so far and my surgery is on Monday. Man, pre op liquid diets are definitely a challenge.

I lost 9 pounds on my pre-op diet. Everyone is different. Some people are retaining a lot of Water while others aren't as much. People also have different amounts of weight to lose. It's easy to get caught up on someone else's successes but keep in mind that your body will move at a different pace than others. You'll have a much more successful journey if you focus on you and what works with your body.

I lost about 8 pounds on mine BUT it wasn't a full 2 weeks. Like an above poster said don't get caught up on what other people have lost because honestly everyone is different. Good luck and 14lbs is AWESOME!!!

I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks and lost 26 pounds.

My consult was 4/1 but my liquid diet didn't start until 4/13. It was a 2 week Optifast shake diet. I lost around 5 lbs. between my consult and the start of the liquid diet just thinking about what I ate. When the liquid diet started, I "cheated sensibly" by having one solid meal almost every day. It was either a salad with a chicken breast or a chicken breast and broccoli on the side. I ended up down 11.5 lbs. from the consult date to the surgery which was 4/28. I have dropped another 2 lbs. or so in the last 24 hours since surgery by only having thin liquids. If I had stuck to the liquid pre-op diet religiously, I would have lost closer to 20 by surgery.

Right now I am struggling through my two week liquid diet. Three days left and I feel just absolutely horrible about myself. I wont lie... I've cheated a bit. Easter fell about halfway through my diet and my doc told me I could have a SMALL meal that day. Other than that I was to drink two Optifast shakes, two Bariatric Advantage shakes and Jell-O. Needless to say, my "small meal" on Easter didn't turn out so small...

My grandma died last weekend.. so I ate a "small meal" the day of her funeral, another Easter at lunch and another Easter at dinner. Now I didn't go completely overboard on any of my "meals", but still feel just as horrible. Since then, I have stuck to it EXCEPT for one small tortilla on like four different days (only eighty calories a piece).

I don't know why I keep eating them. I just can't seem to stop myself.

I have stayed WELL UNDER my 1000 calorie a day limit (except on Easter) and have been doing 2-3 hours of fairly intensive yard work a day but have only lost like 3 lbs. :(

I'm scared to death that the doctor is going to say he won't do my surgery. What do you think?

I understand why they do the liquid diet, and I think its a good thing. I also know that some doctors don't require it at all. I'm just wondering if a little cheating will cause them to not go through with the surgery?

NEED SUPPORT PLEASE!!!!

Your doctor will probably still do your surgery since you are taking up space on his surgery calendar that won't generate income if he skips you. That said, I would be hardcore about your diet from now until surgery and do as much real cardio as you can, if you are healthy enough to do any. I was pretty put out about only losing 11 lbs. by the day prior to surgery but the person weighing me in at my doctor's office was very pleased with that number. Get that number of lbs. lost up to 5 and they shouldn't give you too hard of a time.

I lost 18 lbs during the 2 week pre opt diet. The nurse who was prepping me for surgery said they normally see folks lose about 20lbs.

if i were you i would call the surgeon and tell them and see if they will reschedule you so that you can start fresh. He/She may open you up and refuse to do it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
