cantwaittobeskinny   0 Posted April 26, 2011 I was just wondering how long everyone on here had to or has to do the liquid diet? I have seen that some doctors only make some do it for 1 week, some for 2 weeks and some for 3 weeks so I was just wondering. Also does anyone know why some doctors do it for longer or shorter? I HATE this liquid diet it is way harder then I thought it would be!!!
kellyanne   1 Posted April 26, 2011 I was banded on Friday, have been on Clear liquids until today. Today started "the liquid diet" for 14 days. Creamy Soups, yogurt, putting, Jello.......yeah! one day in and im am sick of it. Just want to lick and nice juicy steak....lol. I am assuming they tell you this long because your body needs to get used to food going through the stoma. The don't want any "stuck" episodes to happen. Good Luck! Rachel412 Â Â 116 Posted April 26, 2011 After surgery? One week on Clear Liquids & Jello (and Protein shakes) only, one week full liquids only, 2 weeks mushy foods.
Melissannde   41 Posted April 26, 2011 no liquid diet pre-op. Post-op, it was a gradual process moving from Soup to mushy... been 2 years, I don't recall the exact process, but by 2 weeks I was allowed soft solids such as egg salad, chicken salad.
Jess55 Â Â 97 Posted April 26, 2011 Are you talking pre or post op? Pre op I had 5 days full liquids, 2 days clear liquids. Post op 1 week clear liquids, 1 week full liquids, 1 week mushies, 1 week ground/chopped, then normal food
cantwaittobeskinny   0 Posted April 26, 2011 Thanks guys! I am talking about post op. I would have hated to have to do it pre op! My doctor only made me do it the day before surgery. My doctor is making me do the liquid diet for 3 weeks and like I said I am having a hard time dealing with it! I just want to eat something actually eat something not drink it! Wheeler5051 Â Â 0 Posted April 26, 2011 Kellyanne, you make me LOL about the steak comment! I totally agree! I woke up out of surgery hungry! I am on a liquid diet but it is killing me, especially because my surgeon recommends all his patients do it before hand too. I can eat a bowl of Soup and still be hungry for Jello. I even gained a few pounds the day home from hospital (hopefully because of surgery) discouraging it was. I had no idea I would be wanting to eat like I do. And two more weeks of liquids! OMG, I feel like, just get this two weeks over with so I can eat some dang food! lol I was banded on Friday, have been on clear liquids until today. Today started "the liquid diet" for 14 days.
