I couldn't find the link to the negative calorie foods. Could you post it here for me? I'd really appreciate it!!

I was just wondering if you saw on here in the nutrition area theres a link for negative calorie foods? and if we eat them do we actually count them?

you can do it i go to meet the doctors on the 3rd of May so i will really be posting then,

Hi everyone,

I'm so glad to have found you all. I'm lucky to have a good support network at home, but they've not been through it, so they have a very limited understanding of what i'm going through. I'm on day two of my pre-op diet (two-weeks of 800-calories/day).

I don't feel that it's a realistic diet for me... not even for two weeks, so when I finished out yesterday at 1,300 calories (I know it's bad, but I was STARVING) I felt like I was failing before I had even started.

I'm interested in hearing others' pre-op diet stories. Are you guys also struggling this hard? Are all the pre-op diets this strict? I have a high BMI (52) so I'm sure that has something to do with it, but jeez.... it seems to me that 1200 calories a day would do the trick!!

http://www.fatfreekitchen.com/negative-calorie-foods.html

Here is the link I'm not sure if it lists all the foods that have negative calories but its a good start my nutritionist told me I should stay away from fruits tho  . I crave for something sweet thats not a Protein fix hahaha . But someone said they put splenda on there veggies. Maybe I'll try that .

Hi! I just got banded on Tuesday (April 26th) and am doing well with the post op liquid diet. I had to go on a 2 week liquid diet before and did think it was outrageous and thought that I couldn't do it. But, I had to get in 5 carnation instant breakfasts sugar free a day and could have sugar free Jello (which I ate a lot of) and broth and crystal light. My day 7/8 were the hardest b/c it was over the weekend and I was at home and was around food more. But, I made it through! I think the thing that really kept me going was the thought that this is only temporary and that I will eventually get to go back to solids. Plus, I lost 15 pounds on the pre op diet! That was great motivation! I am also on insulin, and I am very thankful for the pre op diet b/c I was able to deal with that changing before I had surgery. So when surgery came around, I wasn't bottoming out with really low numbers.

Good luck to you!!! Hang in there! I know that a weak moment in my pre op came when I found out on this site that some others don't have to do the pre op diet. That was hard to hear. But I was determined to follow my doc's orders...he has my best interest in mind!

Can you eat anything as long as you stay under 800 calories/day?

All I can have on mine is two Optifast shakes, Jell-O and Water :( I'm suppose to drink this other stuff too, but it was GROSS!!!!

But I have definitely struggled.... I think the pre-op diets are unrealistic too. BUT its only two weeks out of your whole life! Just stick with it, it sucks, but it will be over soon and you will be skinny! :)

(That's what I keep telling myself)

Yes, I can eat anything as long as I stay under 800 calories, but that basically breaks down to two Protein shakes and a Lean Cuisine for dinner. I'm very thankful that they didn't put me strictly on liquids. I wonder why some surgeons are stricter than others.

I've been pretty bad on my diet. Eating very healthy, exercising, and steadily losing weight, but certainly not following their guidelines. Hopefully nothing horrible befalls me. unsure.gif

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
