Slippage possible without a fill?

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on March 24th. A week after my surgery I injured my back but I was sticking to the full liquids diet plan. After seeing my doctor by the 2 week mark.. I started on soft food. Soups at first but soon after I stopped being as concerned with my diet because of my back pain. I saw my primary doctor and she put me on Naproxen and a muscle relaxer. I've been taking them for 2 weeks now. The last couple of days I've been having some nausea after I eat and today it has been pretty constant through the day. I haven't had my first fill yet.. that wont be until the end of next week. My question is: Is it possible to have a lap band slip without a fill? I've been overeating and I'm scared I caused a slip already. :/ The nausea could be from the naproxen or menstrual cramping. I'm kind of a worrywart.

I might have my weeks sort of messed up. Duhh..

It does not sound like you have a slip. It sounds as if you are getting stuck, or that the back pain you experience, is the band way of telling you that you are full and to stop eating. Try to follow your surgeon's instructions as far as diet, etc. I know it is hard, but i is necessary. Good luck!

Does your primary doc know about your surgery? You shouldn't take any NSAIDs if you've got a band.

My primary doctor knew about lap band. Why are the NSAIDs bad for lap band? Thank you for the replies by the way

Continuous use of NSAIDs with the band can cause ulcers due to the smaller surface area that the NSAID has to be dissolved in. So you could have caused an ulcer which could explain the nausea

Sour you definately should not be on Naproxen after being banded. I'm in the same boat as you where I was on Naproxen prior to surgery but discontinued it after the surgery under the doctors instructions since it does have a tendency to damage your stomach since the surface area has changed in size. I'm trying to find a natural anti inflammatory to use in it's place because it use to help my knee swelling dramatically. The last few weeks have been crazy on my knees so i'm desperate to find something that we are allowed to take. I have an appt. with my knee dr. next week and i'm hoping he will have some suggestions. If your doctor has any other ideas as to what to use please post it here and I will do the same next week.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
