Not losing weight

Recommended Posts

I had my lap band surgery in August, and I have only lost 42lbs. I barely eat because everytime I do it feels like food is getting stuck and I and up throwing it up. My doctor tells me to stop drinking Protein Shakes and Soups, but that seems to be the only things I can keep down. please help

You are too tight if you can't eat normal food - tiny bites chew very well and eat slowly - see your doc get some fill taken out..

Ditto...sounds like you need an unfill.

I went from Dec to April without a fill and had the same thing happen...I just got a fill two weeks ago, and still have the same issue.

On the weightloss end- you might just be a slow looser OR you might not be able to eat enough to burn fat in your body! I definately think you are too tight, they might do an unfill and do your fills more slowly and gradual. That is what my doc has done...he won't do more than a .25cc per visit.

On throwing up - 1 of 2 things is happening: you are too tight and need an unfill or you are taking too big of a bites or gulps and have a sensitive gag-reflex (which I have). The only way to know is to have an unfill and make sure you are taking small bites and chewing 20-25 times per bite.

I am a slow looser - 65lbs in a year and I excercise and eat right...some of our bodies are just SLOW!

Be patient and I would definately suggest having an unfill...sounds like you are way too tight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
