doc said no fill, dont need it

eating 1200 cals a day and feeling good

i track all my cals daily (sometimes go over)

so far, so good

so is it a good thing he said no fill for now?

dont see him again for another 6 weeks?

hope i can keep going without fill....

guess i will call him if i end up starving huh?

thanks for reading

If you feel you're doing fine without a fill, I say it's a good thing. A lot of people here somehow start to think that getting a fill and being super tight = weight loss. While it works for some, it's not healthy nor the purpose of the band.

If you can eat a meal and be full for 3-4 hours, I say your restriction is pretty good and a fill isn't needed.

I didn't get my first (and only) fill until 3 months after surgery. As long as you are losing weight, able to eat proper portion sizes and not hungry between meals then you don't need one. Some people can lose the weight with no fills or just one or two...

I'm about 3 weeks out and ready for a fill...and I can tell because my portion sizes are just a bit too large and I get hungry after about 2 hours.

I'm 4 months out and doc too said no fill. I can go 3-5 hours without being hungry. There is every so often a day when I am overly hungry though. But I can eat a small amount and be satisfied. I hope I can keep going without one. I do know when I do get one though I am going to be in trouble because I don't chew as well as I should

I'm four months out too and no fill. I don't feel like I need one plus I'm scared to get one and have difficulty with it.

Correct! No fill and will never have one :) Feel like I've done perfect without it and I am not a fan of all the problems fills and unfills seem to cause in the present and future. Thanks! :)

I believe so; my surgeon never mentioned a primer fill or anything.

I'm 3 months post op and have had no fills and no saline in my band ever. Month 1 post op, I was sick and lost 25 pounds. Second month until last week- I lost maybe 1 to 3 pounds. I could eat more though I was scared to eat too much. Then all of a sudden last week I started losing again. My appetite is minimal. That is HUGE for me since I was ALWAYS hungry- I'd even wake up in the middle of the night to eat. Now I go 4 -6 hours between meals which are quite small and I feel so full. There's another post on here about not losing which is very helpful to read.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
