2bites and I'm done :(

Recommended Posts

I dont know if I'm too tight or at proper restriction but when I eat solids all I can eat is 2-3 bites and I'm either gonna get stuck or start to slime... Its very frustrating

So all I eat now is mostly Soups or mushy foods not good cuz I still love to eat :(

Zeniada

I had this problem when I started solids too. I was trying to eat too fast. So, I got a one-minute egg timer (www.unclesgames.com) and made myself wait for the timer until I could have another tiny bite. It made all the difference to me. I actually bought five of them and had one at work, one at desk, one at my best friend's house, etc. I think there can also be a problem if you wait too many hours between meals. I found that if I went more than five hours I would have a problem, so I started to have a healthy snack late afternoon to hold me over until dinner. It's definitely a learning process and we're all different, so what works for one person may not work for the next. However, it's so worth it in the long run. I was wearing a tight 26/28 and these days I'm wearing a comfortable 14, or a tight 12 :)

Best wishes to you.

Sue

According to my surgeon, you should be able to eat 3 oz of Protein and 1/2 cup of vegies in a 20-30 minute period. The fact that you're resorting to mushies and sliders says you're probably too full. Depending on how long ago you got your fill, you just may need to be patient until the swelling goes down (2 weeks?). If it's been several weeks, you might want a slight unfill.

I agree with Effiepoo if your fill was a week ago and you can't eat solids you are too tight. In my opinion many people on this site are too tight. They want the band to force them not to eat certain foods. My doctor never said that would be true. He mentioned some foods may be harder to eat but never set up the expectation the band would be a a superego telling me what I should and should not eat.

For me, it's about what I'm eating, and how fast I'm eating it. If I take bites that are larger than they probably should be, don't chew it thoroughly, and/or eat too fast, just about anything gets sort of stuck. I feel the pressure, then put down my fork and wait till I feel the item move through the band. If I force things, it hurts a lot. Patience when eating is the ongoing skill I have to manage to stay comfortable. I've only had one sliming incident (salsa and chips at a Mexican restaurant - ate too fast, didn't chew enough, things got stuck, and I joined the ranks of those who have been slimed... Surprised me a lot, even though I knew what was happening.) I don't want to go back there again, so I'm much more careful.

When I slow down and eat properly, I find I can eat anything. If it's a dense Protein like chicken or steak, after about 3-4 ounces, I'm feeling quite full. I went to Olive Garden the other night with friends, and I ordered the "Steak Toscano" with steamed vegetables instead of potatoes. The 12 ounce steak made three meals for me. Worked well, but the trick was taking very small bites. I use the relative size of a dime as the visual queue. Small bites, chew thoroughly, and take my time. It's working for me.

Good luck!

Dave

I had my last fill back in Feb.

And it seems to only happen when I eat solids during the day but at night I can eat a little bit of solids...

I feel that I may be to tight but am starting to loose consitantly and dont wanna stop so I'm afraid to get a slight unfill..

But due to all the sliming and throwing up I've gotten really depressed about having the lap band even tough it has helped me lose 36lbs so far...

I may just need to break down and go get an unfill I really dont have the money to do that either... Cant find a happy medium here

Dry foods for me don't go down at all. Like chicken Breast, bread , Beef, etc. So the Doc said eat dark meat in chicken. It's a little better, Bread I don't even think of. I choose to dip my stuff in a sauce of some kind, and about 3 ounces of meat is doable.

I think I am in exactly the same boat. I got a fill last month, was okay for like 2 weeks, got my period and I haven't been able to really eat since. No matter how slowly I eat or how much I chew. Even one bite often needs to come back up. In the last week, I have PBed at least one meal (of 2) a day. I too need to suck it up and go get an unfill. The resorting to Soup and stuff is a no no and I know it. Your post just reconfirmed it for me....

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
