My dr submitted on the 9th and I think that I got an approval letter today from insur co saying that I am approved. I am calling the dr first thing in the morning to see if I am reading this correctly. I was told that I have the easiest insur to get approval from.

Hi.

I have Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield. My doctor submitted the paperwork last Monday and I got the approval today, so one week. Not bad. I was expecting a problem because so many people here have been put through heartbreaking delays and denials. I am so greatful I got such quick approval. Good Luck to you and I hope you hear soon

it took my insurance about a month to figure out that I did not have all the papers submitted, then two days to approve

Thanks for the info, everybody! They initially told me it could take 30 days, but my nurse consultant said more along the lines of what I read here. Phershey, did they give you a reason why you were denied so many times? I got a call today saying my information was submitted on the 10th. Fingers crossed!

fingers crossed! hope it all goes smooth :) well they kept saying that i didn't meet the requirements.....but i did.... they were a bmi of 35 or higher and 2 co-morbids. then i called to ask what was going on because i had all a bmi over 35 and 2 co-morbids and then they said that my insurance didn't cover the surgery. but i had already got all of the info before going into this so i knew that it was covered. they submitted my appeal again and got a letter saying the same denial letter as the first. i was so upset and i think that is what they want to happen and they think you will just finally give up. but i had gotten this far i was not going to give up! so i wrote an appeal letter the 3rd time and it went to a different place it took about 2 weeks and i got a letter finally saying that they where over turning my denial and that i was approved :) i was so excited!!! i was shaking, crying, jumping up and down! i had my surgery 1/13/11 and am so happy! keep me posted and if there is anything i can do to help let me know.

I so hope I get a positive answer soon! My final visit with my surgeon is tomorrow :0 I'm not sure I would handle a denial well. But, if it happens, I'll appeal.

I have different insurance (basically regence/blue shield) and my first decision came in a weeks time (denial)...appeal was sent off about a week later and APPROVAL followed that in about 2 weeks.

No matter the outcome,. if they say no stay persistent! Best of luck!!!!

I have Aetna POS and my approval came within 2 days. I was told it would take up to 15 days, so I was pleasantly surprised it came that fast. I certainly wish you the very best.

I have United Healthcare/Oxford and it was about 10 days and I only think it was that long because there was something missing out of the original packet of papers that was submitted from my surgeon's office but once they had that it was about 3 days. Good luck and remember this is something worth fighting for if you have any problems with them.

I used to have United Health Care and thought it was great...good luck. Anyone know how long it takes for GEHA/Medco? I just

submitted my information -- am (hopefully) eligible because FDA lowered their recommendations and I have severe

arthritis, had a stroke and all kinds of other stuff -- other than that, I'm completely healthy!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
