First fill/ feel like I am eating more!!

Recommended Posts

Hello I got my first fill last friday so I am one week out and I don't feel any restriction, in fact I feel like my appetite is increasing and I am tolerating most foods. I was banded on January 24th and lost a fast 18lbs and now nothing. I recieved 3cc in this first fill and like most of you I am not sure how many cc's my band holds. Any suggestions? I am afraid if I go and get more filled now I will have too much restriction to fast......Jackie

I thought I was the only one experiencing this. I was banded on Feb 9 and had my first fill March 2. Really have to watch myself for fear of overeating and lack of restriction. I feel like I can eat more than before the fill and wonder if it's because of healing and swelling from surgery gone.

Exactly how easy is it to stretch the pouch?

You guys are freaking me out! I had my first fill today. He gave me 5.5 cc's, and my next fill is in 9 weeks.

My first fill was 5cc in an 11cc band. I had very little restriction. My next fill was only 1cc and I really feel the difference now. I hope it lasts.

OMG. I feel the exact same way. My first fill was this past Tuesday 3/08/11 and I definitely feel as though I am eating wayyyyy more than before. Im not eating more because I want to, Im eating more because I am even hungrier. I also ate right before my fill and am wondering if that affected it in anyway since my wonderful dr's office never gave me any instructions about it beforehand. I'm also having a problem stopping when I feel satisfied vs. being full; especially if the food is yummy. I know that part is in my head, but the physical hunger is out of this world. I can't wait until my next fill.

I know that we have the same doctor, I'm going through the same thing. I have my second fill this Wednesday, I can't wait because I was so hungry today.I have been stuck at the same weight since March 15 (22lbs lost), I am hoping this second fill helps me to break this plateau. I also feel that I'm not being given enough instructions.

Add me to the boat.. I got my first fill yesturday and was only given a half of a cc guess I still had a lot of Fluid in my band from my surgery. I did the liquid diet all yesturday and most of today... But I just can't stay full on the liquids I feel hungry and I get get really pissy bc of my hunger... So tonight I ate some solids everything went down just fine... My husband and I can notice Im eating a lot less then I ever was just hoping im on the right track. Im excited ive been released to start working out again so im hoping that helps pick up the pace with my weight loss. I would love any POSITIVE advice of your successes!! I wish everyone the best but its comforting knowing there are others out there going through the same dilemas as myself! Good luck!

Hmm! I should log in more often. My banding was Feb 3rd and my first fill of 1 1/2 cc was Mar 15th. I thought I was doing pretty good before the fill since if I ate too much I was uncomfortable. Sometimes my left side below ribs really hurts if I eat/drink too much. When I went to get my first fill I asked about this and was told pain on side was common, don't know why, it's just common.

For my fill the assistant doctor said 1 1/2 cc is pretty standard. I could feel a little restriction as he was injecting the fill, but have felt hungrier since the fill. Is it just my head playing tricks on me.

No one has really mentioned their fill procedure. My port site stung for rest of day and then bruised some. From talking to a friend who had been banded last year by a different doctor, her port is closer to her belly button off to one side; I was surprised to find my port is right under my breast bone. Also was surprized by the actual fill procedure. I asked the nurse if they did a guided fill and she said "oh he was there so doctor knows where the port is". They have you lay on your back, get stuck and leave. No guided fill, or numbing the site, or making sure you can drink Fluid before leaving. I just went back to work, like no big deal. Dr was nice enough and asked if I had any questions which was when I asked him about the side pain. Really, I didn't even know where my port was. Guess I just didn't know what to expect. My next fill is mid April which I guess will be another 1 1/2 cc. Hope I get some restriction with it. I know my biggest obstacle is probably in my head. Maybe I should eat with chopsticks to make sure my bites are tiny.

Hope we all keep losing weight and winning the battle! :)

Okay so here I am still with no more weight lost after my first fill....Do I feel full after meals yes,,,am I following the rule of no drinking with my meals yes, so why not one more pound lost? I am getting ready to go to the gym and work out which is what I think is missing here....The band is only a tool it still takes a lot of work to loose the weight. So I am scheduled for my second fill on on April 8th which will be one month out from my last fill....I did wait longer after getting banded to get a fill so I feel like this is okay....I have no been calorie counting so I am going to start doing that as well...My insurance did not cover the band so I paid for this and am wondering why at this point??? don't get me wrong I do not regret it...I am 30# down since being banded in January....I guess I just thought the weight would come off faster.......

My fill procedure was different from what you describe. My doctor has you standing up and does the fill while looking at the X-ray and has you drink fluids to see the restriction. My doctor uses a lidocaine blast which has no needle but blasts the lidocaine in the site you only feel the pressure of this and then he does the fill....takes about 5 minutes....it is funny it takes me about 45 minutes to drive downtown, then I park sit and wait in the office and bam 5 minutes I am done to drive back home in rush hour traffic because fills are only done in the afternoon...we all sit there while the doctor comes running in past us to get started, everyone is excited "The docotor has arrived" 30 minutes later the office is almost empty until next time. I do want to just bust out laughing at the whole crazy scene.......Till next time....take care fellow bandsters....Jackie

I had a HUGE needle put into my stomach, it was uncomfortable, I got 5cc my first fill and was down 42 pds when I went to see him, since than I have added spinning and the gym everyday except sunday due to work, and I don't think I have lost anything, not cheating, listening to my band, but I am sliming a lot....every other day, which is pissing me off................

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
