So glad that I'm feeling better these days. It's 8 days post op. The pain is much better and my depression/crying fits seem to be getting better. Who knew I would have such a break down letting food aka my best friend go. The break up hasn't been easy but the tide has changed. I can not fit an outfit I purchased in Dec and it was too small. I've lost almost 30 pounds since the first of the year. I no longer have three chins. I'm so happy I did this for me. I'm looking forward to wonderful year.

Wow!! Excellent for you!! :) :) That is so wonderful!

I went through the same thing post-op as well. I was a basketcase! My poor Hubby! ;)

What I have learned is that food is just another addiction for so many people (me personally too!) and you truly withdraw from it. Its similar to withdrawing from anything else. You feel miserable until you work through it! So good for us for making it this far!!!! Everyday is a huge success! :)

i'm 3 years post-op and i still occasionally get depressed because i miss using food as a reason to feel better.

today, i made a HUGE mistake at work... a $3,000 mistake... and my first thought was to go find something to eat. holding back from doing that was SO hard but... 6 hours later... i'm glad i didn't binge!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
