I am requesting some help. I am Day # 2 post-op and very uncomfortable. It hurts when i take deep breaths, hurts when i swallow in the epigastric area, when i drink i feel pressure in my stomach and chest area. i think i can feel the band around my stomach hurting when i swallow. I called my surgeons office they told me this is normal it will all go away. My port site is swollen, lots of gas and pain pain pain, i am now taking my pain meds every four hours consistently. Give me some feed back please. I will be seeing my surgeon next Wednesday.

This is perfectly normal....i know a lot of people post on here about what a wonderful recovery they had but I did NOT have that experience. I was in a lot of pain and consistently took my pain meds for at least 2 weeks out....i also had a lot of trouble taking a deep breath and liquids did not go down comfortably...all i can say is it is going to be OK...give it time...take your gas x strips and try to make yourself drink, drink, drink! and don't forget to walk around a bit...I promise its worth it in the end! I may be the slowest loser but i still don't regret getting the lapband...55 pounds down in one year...hope to get the other 45 off within the next year! so just an fyi if you don't lose tons! of weight like it seems everyone else on here does don't worry about it...just take it slow and follow the band instructions and you will be successful in your own time. Congrats!

Keep taking your meds, walk around as much as possible. I would call and ask them if you have any liquid in the band (they are'nt going to think to offer that info up unless you ask about it). Everytime someone writes a story like yours they have some fill. Once it's taken out they are much better.

Same here. Although everyone's pain tolerance is different, you have described exactly what I went though.

I was just about to post this very suggestion.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
