So I am 2 weeks and 2 days out from surgery and had my first follow up visit today. The Dr said I am healing nicely and has upped me to soft foods. I am scheduled for my first fill in 2 weeks.

Since I'm not at all restricted and starting to feel hungry I just hope to make it through t he next few weeks without overeating. I did have my GP refill my phentermine rx. I know its a crutch but I promised this would be my last refill. I took it for the 2 months leading up to surgery and I found it very helpful. I still need to lean better eating habits and self control...baby steps right.

The best news is that I am down 25lbs since I started on the nutrition program 3 months ago...wahoo!!! :D :D

I also hope to add some activity to my day. There is a huge gym in my apt building but I have yet to use it...not sure what keeps holding me back...maybe its that I hate sweating or hate seeing all the young skinny girls. I am also so out of shape that working out hurts sometimes. I get out of breath so quickly. Back in the day I used to play tennis 5 days a week. I so badly want to play this year when the weather gets nicer. I signed up for lessons last year but had to quit after two weeks b/c I couldn't keep up with all the drills. I literally had to leave miss class b/c I couldn't breath...I was so embarassed and it makes me so sad to know how much I let myself go over the past 7 yrs...:( :(

Ok so now I'm babbling...just wanted to check in.

Hope everyone else is doing well too!

Peace~

Ally

Good for you that you are getting a fill in two weeks! I'm not getting one until 6 wks post op.

Congrats on your weight loss, too. You are doing great!

I don't see a problem with you using the phentermine in the short term. I'm sure once you get filled, you will not be hungry anymore but until then, anything that helps you stay on track, is good!

Congrats Groovy! I saw my doc last week & he didn't even talk about a fill, just that he'd check my progress is 3 weeks. I forgot to ask but I think he must have done a small fill during surgery because I do already have some restriction.

Keep up the good work!! Did your doc clear you for exercise, mine just said walking and the eliptical, no zumba yet :(

Yes I'm cleared to exercise...I just need to get my ass off the couch and do something. I was going to try Zumba on wii. I am a TOTAL spaz so I figured maybe doinging it in the privacy of my home would be best.

I'm amazed as I read through all the posts how differently each doctor works! My first recheck is Monday (1 week post op) and he is talking about a fill four weeks post-op. I was told the elliptical and walking were fine as soon as I feel up to it. I am on a liquid diet but pureed, strained Soups are fine! So many differences!

I want to congratulate you on the goal of going back to tennis lessons - I need to think of a similar one. I do plan to work with a personal trainer once I have 50# off - until then I don't think I'll be healed enough but we'll see. Good luck!

You'd be amazed going to zumba class no one pays attention to what your doing. My best friend is an instructor and her class has all ages and body types, but no one cares what anyone else is doing or not doing!

But I do (well did before surgery) zumba on wii & love it. I was losing weight without exercise but it has now stopped so I figure monday is my time to stop being lazy and get it going again!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
