Are you sticking with eating nothing larger than a pencil eraser?

Have you tried eating something a little larger and if yes, how did it work out? I generally eating that size when anything more than very soft food, like NSA pudding, Jello, etc. I haven't had any fills yet, just banded 2/7.

I never understood that theory, since chewing is most important, thereby thoroughly mushing foods larger in size.

Exactly!!! Perhaps its the quantity of mush that could get you trouble, or a renegade larger piece that escapes the molars. :)

The reason for cutting food up so small is that once you get to your "sweet spot" even though you have to chew it up some food will still have trouble getting past the band. Don't forget that as you get fills, the opening between your stoma and stomach gets smaller and smaller hence the word "restriction" . It's like trying to force a golf ball through a straw. It's going to get stuck.

Absolutely! It must be a pencil eraser size for me to eat it. NOT! :D I'd be fibbing if i said i specifically cut up my food to that size cause i don't. I do try to remember to cut it up smaller than what i used to before surgery. I've been fortunate though because the only thing that seems a little harder to get down is raw veggies.

I definitely don't take the size bites that I did preop but I have never done the tiny eraser sized bites either. I take a fairly normal sized bite and have no problem swallowing. Of course, I also don't have any issues taking all of my many pills either.

I did it that way the first few weeks of solids. But no, I realized soon after that I didn't need to take such tiny bites. I just need to eat slowly and chew well.

My bites are a bit larger than pencil erasers but for me it is more of eating slow and really chewing the food.< /p>

I take some what normal size bites. Since my last fill I now have to make sure I chew chew chew...If I dont it gets stuck. I also cant eat bread anymore. This is a first because for the 4 months post op I have been able too eat everything. You will know if its too big or you didnt chew enough....trust me you will know...

What? No way! I eat fairly normal sized bites. When I'm at home i use a baby fork to make sure nothing is too huge. If anything i like to cut it small so it lasts longer, and makes the small portions more satisfying.

If it's so small and mashed so tiny it'll become a slider food..

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
