My Biggest Fear Is Coming True . . .

Recommended Posts

Six weeks postop . . . still 14 lbs. down . . . the same 14 that were gone 1 week after surgery from the liquid diet. Made it through lap band hell and had a fill. That gave me some restriction, but no weight loss . . . I'm still snow covered, going through a recent separation, hence the depression. Not too much energy to exercise with all of this stress! Thanks for listening. I'm starting to think I made a mistake and should have gotten the sleeve. HELP????

I think all of the other posters are right. You might also try talking to a psychologist. Some of us had to meet with one pre-op. Not that you need any special help, but they could help you to work through the issues which are causing you to be stressed out. And they can help you work through the issues that arise in your weight loss journey.

This is not an easy process, not even for those who are losing. Its long and hard, and we can all use all the help we can get.

I am 8 weeks out, lost 30 lbs but nothing in the past month or so. Have not had a fill yet

so I am looking forward to getting some restriction. I was very discouraged but hopefully

that will change soon.

And Melzie, your husband should love you unconditionally. Lose the weight for yourself,

not anyone else. And if he can't accept you the way you are, maybe you would be better

off without him.

Hang in there!

Don't worry so much, just MAKE SURE you are doing what you are supposed to, not trying to lecture.. but it's the truth, I know none of us want to hear it. Maybe take a look at your nutrition, count calories and see why. There has to be a reason. You aren't eating 1200 calories and exercising 5 days a week and no losing any weight.

Last week, I slacked off, ate a little more than I should, and I barely exercised and I didn't lose any weight (or maybe 1/2lb) and I know why! It's my fault. The band is a tool, same with the sleeve or bypass. You still have to eat healthy and exercise or it won't work. If it was that simple nobody in the world would be fat.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
