What should I expect???

Recommended Posts

I am wondering what I should expect and should I do?

I was banded 1/19/11. I lost 18 lbs pre op and so far have lost about 14 pounds post op. I am happy with that. But I am not eating very much at all and I have not lost a lb in over a week. I know the idea is slow weight loss and I appreciate that. But I am worried that maybe I am eating to little and starving my body. I am now eating some food. Still trying to stay with softer foods. I often have to remind myself to eat, because I am not hungry.

Anyway I get my first fill next week. But can someone give me advice on what I should expect. I think I am just worried this might not work and that is just not an option for me.

Thanks

Since you are not hungry, it doesn't seem like you need a fill. Make sure you are getting in enough protien- at least 60 grams, and also 64oz of Water. Best wishes!

Your situation sounds parallel to mine right now.

I have found that if I don't eat small amounts frequently I don't seem to lose that week. I need to keep fueling my body. Just reducing portion sizes is not enough for me, I need to eat small amounts several times a day to actually get enough calories in.

Well, you are still healing.. but average weight loss is 1-2lbs a week... unless your weight was really really high to being with, then you can lose more. But you've lose a ton! 18lbs in like 3 weeks? that's 6lbs a week.

The fills are to make you less hungry. That is their sole purpose. Some people it takes more than others to curb the hunger.

You should be getting in 1000-1200 calories when you are on solid foods. If you don't eat enough your body will go into starvation mode and freak out. I know it's hard on mushies, but try to eat a little bit more, get on a normal schedule, remember you have to eat like this for the rest of your life! Make it good, and realistic for your.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
