Anxious to get it behind me!!!

Recommended Posts

I am on the schedule for Jan 19. Had a date for Nov 10 but my Mom passed away on that day. I started the pre-op diet today and am feeling deprived but am dealing with it. I noticed on some of the post that loss

is not what I hope for in some people. I can see it takes more self control than I had thought it would. Glad to know that in advance. My doc told me it is a tool not a magic bullet. Looks like he is right. I will rely on many of you to help me get on track and stay focused. I know the clinic I go to has great follow up too.

Gonna have a new attitude!!!!:nervous

Welcome. It sounds like you have a good attitude. Admitting that you have to change your ways is the first step. You also came to this board which is a great start. There are so many wonderful people here.

Remember the the pre-op diet will help you change your mindset. It also helps shrink your liver which makes the surgery easier for the surgeon which means easier on you. At the end of my two weeks on liquids, I stepped on the scale and was thrilled. Talk about a boost right before surgery. I promise it is worth it! Hang in there and good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
