2 1/2 months and the scale isnt moving!

Recommended Posts

I was banded Nov 10th 2010. Had 2 fills since then and i still have little restriction. I do get full faster but am hungry again 2 hours later. Ive never had a PB or slimed or anything like that, there is no food that i have trouble eating. Now i wasnt expecting this to be a miracle, i knew i had to still diet and exercise but that has always been hard for me to do which is why i chose to get the lap band as a last resort.. so basically i want to know if anyone else has not lost any weight this far out from surgery.. ive only lost a total of 10lbs from my preop diet and thats about it!

At the end of the day, banded or not, it's about calories in versus calories out :) Banding doesn't change that simple rule - it EVENTUALLY will make it easier to eat less calories by restricting the amount of food you are able to eat or even want to eat. I'm sure you've heard it all before, but somehow it helps to be reminded of this when we are facing hard times. Believe me, I HATE journaling, but have found that if I do it, I am actually eating a lot more calories than I realize. So it's no mystery that you are probably eating too many calories to lose weight right now, however, you are not gaining, so that is a plus. When you get to your sweet spot, then the weight will start coming off. Until then, it's all up to you, sister :) By the way - it took me 4 fills before I felt the beginnings of restriction. Welcome to bandster hell! This too shall pass :)

The band is just a tool that prevents you from gorging. Unless you make the conscious decision to eat better and move more, it won't do anything for you.

Start monitoring all of your calories - use something like The Daily Plate. Get a fitness monitor, Fit Bit is $99 and offers online diet tracking and will monitor your activity.

Once you see how many calories you're truly consuming and how many you're truly burning you'll see where your issues are.

WOW! That's exactly my scenario. I'm 5 weeks out and I only lost the first 11 pounds during the one week liquid diet post op. SO frustrating. It makes you feel like it works for everyone else and not you, right? Join the club. Had my first fill last night. Although I was still starving last night, I felt the restriction this morning and even more tonight. They added 5 ccs. to an 11 cc. band. Maybe they didn't add alot to yours the first 2 times. Hang in there! I am too . . . but disappointed so far.

I did not get any restricton until I was at 9.4 CC. I think I may be at restriction at 10CC. I am a slow loser. Are you exercising? If you are you may need to add more days or length.

Yea, just gotta eat healthy and exercise. If you eat Protein rich meals and eat slowly, it should curb your hunger, it's not there to do much else. It's not going to stop you from eating.

This is such a great statment... it all falls back to calories!!!!! It's surprising how many calories a person can take in if they aren't counting. I have been slacking on counting calories lately and I can really tell. I got to get back to counting and measuring portions!!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
