Had surgery Jan. 26, 2011, I can't sip water with out it gathering in the stomach, following back pain, then coming back up. The day after the office removed 2.7 from the port. Allowed me to drink for several hours, before blocking back up. Went to the ER last night, was given a cat scan, which showed that every thing was in the right place, but that I had no fluid passing through. They gave me 2 IV bags, an injection for inflammatory problems and told me to not drink till 7am today. Problem is back, no passage. I'm so thirsty. Has anyone experienced this and what should I expect?

Sounds as if there might still be some saline in the band and that your stomach is swollen from the surgery as you have not healed up yet. I would suggest that you get ahold of the physician ASAP to determine whether or not there is any saline left in the band and if so get it out so your stomach can calm down and heal. Do not mess around with dehydration. Good luck and let us know how you are doing!

if the ice chips work...you might want to try making some peppermint tea ice chips. The peppermint will assist your stomach into settling down a bit. It took three days of small sips of peppermint tea at room temp before my stomach would tolerate anything. I still remain fill free 5 months after surgery.
