Hello All- I had my lapband done on jan 3rd and i am having my first fill february 2nd (happenes to be my birthday :-( )... oh well. The last week since i have been on solids, i feel like i am eating more than i should. my doctor told me to eat until i am not hungry anymore but i dont know if i am going over board with it.

After my first fill, will i have more restriction?

Did your doctor put any fill in during surgery? If not once your swelling from surgery goes down there really is no difference in you stomach now than there was before surgery. My doctor said to have 3 oz of solid Protein and to have veggies and some starches. He did'nt specify how many though.

Regarding the fill; it's really nothing. My doctor does'nt even give a numbing shot. 10 seconds and done. My first fill was 4 CCs which I was worried about because I did'nt want to be too tight. Yeah Right. Anyway. When I stood up from the table I felt this odd constriction in my stomach area. Clearly the fill moving in the band! Odd. Did'nt hurt just felt weird. I mentioned it to the nurse and she said occationally people make that observation.

Yes you should have more restriction, however everyone is different, its mostly about refocusing what you are eating during these first few months.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
