I slice the whole cabbage thin, put it in a big pot and boil it until it's tender (or crunchy if you prefer). After cooked, I keep it refrigerated then just break it out for lunches or dinner, nuke it and make a sauce. I use ground turkey, but I've noticed that you have to watch ground turkey, if it's not very lean, the calories can be as high as ground beef. Lean ground beef is probably even fine. :)

I love the laughing cow cheese sauce idea! Can I ask a dumb question about the cabbage??? So I gather you slice the cabbage thin, do you boil it or how do you make it tender? And you use turkey sausage not groud turkey, right? I want to make this it sounds delicious!

I haven't bought it yet, it's a big squash I believe, you cut it in half and bake them. When it's cooked you are supposed to be able to run a fork over it creating spaghetti size strips of the squash. I have to google and get more info before I cook first time though--

Yes, spaghetti squash is long and yellow. As mattie said, you bake it. The inside becomes stringy like spaghetti and is delish! i toss it with chicken, turkey pepperoni or ground turkey, and add sauce and ricotta. MMMMMM!!!!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
