I was banded in Nov. 2010 and my incisions think they healed nicely. They are flat and smooth but one is almost a deep red or purple color. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to fade and if they do...are they still noticeable?

Just wondering..!

all of my incisions have faded except for my port incision. it's a little raised and a darker color than my normal skin... and of course the largest of the incisions.

i actually don't mind the scar. it's a reminder of where i was then, where i am now and where i'll be in the future!

It's been three years since I was banded and if I didn't know where to look for my scars I wouldn't be able to find them! The scar over my port was deep red for awhile and then it started to slowly fade. I don't recall the exact length of time it took but now it's barely visible.

My scars all look different depending on how they healed. If they healed right away then it is hard to see them. If they look a few weeks to heal then they are darker.

Here is an old post of mine showing.... I think 12 scars at the time from my band, and plastics adventures. I will post another new photo soon since this was almost 6 months ago

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
