off topic....toothache

Recommended Posts

I had a root canal and crown on a tooth close to 10 years ago. It started hurting when I bite down on it several months ago....went to dentist....xrayed......everything okay. Dentist felt it might have been "high" and hitting the upper teeth so they ground it down a bit.

Tonight----bit down on a piece of meat....nothing hard.......and YOWZA........I am in pain....continuous......throbbing.......

arghhhhhh................

I hate this.

:(

Tooth issues sure make chewing or food difficult!! Been thee done that! Had a root canal day #1 of pre op diet...made the first few days of a liquid diet so easy! My.doc jokingly.said he will recommend this method to all his patients...hahaha

It sounds to me like you may need a re-treat on the root canal therapy. If it were me I would have it done by an endodontist. I hope you have dental insurance because a re-treat costs more. Antibiotics may help the pain go away for awhile, but it will come back. It might buy you a bit of time so you can save money for the re-treat. They can go through the existing crown and then you can just get a filling in the access hole. You don't have to get a new crown.

I am suffering horribly from the exact same thing. I went back on liquids for the last 2 days because I can't chew. I have three crowns on the bottom right they are hurting me so bad. All of a sudden, no injury or anything like that just BAM wake up looking like a bus hit the right side of my face and terrible pain. My dentist can't see me till next week so he called in antibiotics and pain meds till then. I am hoping for some relief soon. I have a high pain tolerance except for when it comes to teeth. I broke my foot two years ago and I didn't even use the pain meds then but this tooth business...Please dose me up! I will wait till it kicks in and sleep it off if I have to! Hopefully I don't have to spend my whole tax return on my teeth! I have plans for that $$$$$! Lol! Good luck with your toothache, I hope you start feeling better soon!

I had a filling a while ago and like a week or so later I started having major pain and it got worse an worse, I was in agony. Finally I found out the root had died and was infected and they had to drill a hole in it and let the infection and gas drain out for a couple days. I was on antibiotics for a week. This pain was a pain that no meds touched. Even when they injected me with novacaine it did not dull this pain. And it was shooting across my jaw. It was horrible. So a few days after he opened it I went back and he temporarily closed it, it was not fully done til like a month later to make sure the infection was gone. I never want to go through that again

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
