How do I find the right balance?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to eat the small meals I started when I just got banded, but the last couple days I've started getting hungry a few hours later. These are high Protein meals. And I try to use the Protein shakes to hold off hunger, but it doesn't always work.

Should I be eating more at a meal...I really don't want to because I haven't lost weight in 2 weeks, but I also worry about setting myself up for failure if I can't stick to 3 meals and the Protein Shakes.< /p>

What is the right balance? Any suggestions?

I have struggled with my quantity at meals... At Breakfast I can not eat anything, not a bite. It will come back up. About 10:00am I can manage to get a yogurt down. By lunch i can eat about 2 cups of food and the same for supper. This usually does hold me over to the next meal though without any Snacks. They say that you should only be able to eat a cup of food, I have yet to experience that. However, I have been thinking, I could probably stop eating after a cup and not be hungry? But I think I would require a snack between meals. My dr. is happy with how I'm doing and I have been very honest about what I eat. It seems to be working for me. I manage to get in all of my protien so I don't do the protien shakes. Good Luck!

If your feeling hunger 1-2 hours after eating then it sounds as if you may need a fill. Remember if your eating right but still are hungry then your not at proper restriction.

As far as eating I was told to eat 3 meals a day with 3-4 oz of Protein 1/2 cup veggie and if I'm still hungry then 1/4 cup starch.

And If I were to get hungry between meals then I could have a snack of nuts, fruit, yogurt, pudding or a Protein shake.

Hope this helps...

Hi Bulldog,

I found that I was snacking way too much in between meals and then I remembered that someone (don't remember if it was the doctor, nurse or nutritionist) told me to eat until I was full. I was eating what I thought I should be able to eat, but not until I was full. Once I started eating a little more at my meals, it definitely helped.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
