Hello,

I just got banded on January 6, 2011. I had my surgery along with 4 other women In MA on that day.

Is anyone on the blog yet? Wondering how you are all doing.

For me, I slept all day yesterday, as my body needed the rest from surgery and my previous work load. The soreness is starting to subside in areas; however, I had to have a hernia repair and I can feel that today. I am glad they fixed that at the same time. It was bothersome for a few years.

Well, I certainly don't feel like running a marathon, but I am glad that it is over. I am also glad that I took time off from work. You really need to. I was one of the lucky ones that did not get nauseas, athough in the past I always had. My problem the first night was with pain in my left shoulder from the gas. I sat up, walked around and used an ice bag and that helped tremendously. I can still feel gas today, but it is nothing compared to the first night.

I am learning how to slow life down from having had the surgery; another benefit for me.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Cheryl

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
