Is there anyone with lupus too?

Recommended Posts

I would really love to hear from someone who also has lupus. I am 21 and have have lupus for oh 5 years. I really want to know about any differences with the band that you have experienced. I have had a good time with mine banded on 23rd of Nov. I was worried about erosion, my dr told me we are especially prone to it. How do your meds work with the band? I am on plaquial (sp), I broke down and decided to finally take some. Just wanted to get to know someone in the same boat.

Love,

Sam

Hey sam3841... I am 28 and was diagnosed with psudo-lupus in Semptember. Basically I have all the symptoms but a negative ANA. (My doctor won' t say I have full blown Lupus till she see's the positive ANA). They are treating me as if i was diagnosed with full lupus though. I am also having to be tested every 3 months to see if I get a positive ANA. Weird I know. I was banded in October and so far I have had no complications what so ever. I am taking my meds regularly and have actually noticed that the joint pain is decreasing since I started losing the weight. Don't get me wrong there are still days I can't get out of bed and all but it is getting better. Keep an update of how things are going and I will do the same :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
