So, I know that keeping track of your food intake is super important, but I have ALWAYS been terrible at consistently keeping a food journal. I often find old ones that I wrote in for 8 days or sometimes even less!

But those days are sooooo over for me! I recently joined the ranks of the smart phoners and have found a couple of AWESOME weight management type apps (all for free, cuz im allergic to paying for stuff!) that make food journaling easy AND fun!

One is by spark people and if youre already a member of the site, you are able to sync things up.

The one I use is called Calorie Counter. The most fun part of this for me is that when you are entering what youre eating (or, in my case, drinking!) you can search for it, enter the nutritional label information by hand, or (and this is the fun part) scan the barcode label on the product!!

yes, I AM rather easily amused! :D

In addition to food diaries, you can also keep track of your exercise, monitor your weight and I think it even calculates weight watchers points for you (although, I havent done this part yet)

I just wanted to share my new favorite toy!

OMG... isnt this the best?? I have been keeping a journal since my surgery but just found the calorie counter ap over the holidays and I am SO hooked!!!! It makes it so easy to track eating.

And using when eating out is a godsend. I wanted oysters on New Years at a fav seafood spot and I just looked it up and was able to get all the info I needed.

I am like you...completely facinated by this ap. LOL

Good for you! I'm a faithful food logger too. I use fitday.com. I also hate writing it by hand and haven't done that since I was 10 or 11 years old. That bar code scan app sounds awesome! Do you have an iPhone? I don't think I can do that on a blackberry (I'm waiting for iPhone to come to Verizon). I think there is an app to take a picture of a bar code for bb, but I think its for comparing prices. Anyhow, that sounds awesome!

the barcode scanner is a constant source of amusement for me! i get bored and start collecting things around the house that have barcodes on them and then scan it to see what pops up! mind you, ive already purchased and most likely used these products. its just so much fun!

I love the iPhone app called LoseIt! It's so easy to use and it can also be accessed via Internet browser.

I have the sparkpeople app and I just added CALORIE COUNTER by myFitnessPal. I have a droid on Verizon network and I use my barcode scanner with them. Think I'm going to like myFitnessPal a little better! Thanks for the reminder!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
