I'm only starting my journey

Hi guys, I am only starting my journey and its a long long road to success. I am getting banded by Dr Chris De Bruyne in Belgium in January 2011. Follow my Journey at http://byebyefatgirlhellolapbandqueen.blogspot.com/2010/12/worst-moments.html and I would appreciate any tips and advice any of you could give. Much appreciated xxx

I don't visit this board very often any longer. In fact, most successful people go on with their lives and stop coming here often. The people who do have some problems with their band continue to come so that is why it will seem like you see lots of people having problems with their band.

My advise is to use this board to it's fullest and you will avoid mistakes made by others, get lots of tips for success, and even lots of recipes and different foods and shakes to try. I used the board daily while I was losing and it was such a help. Just keep in mind that you need to always follow your own Dr's orders and that some of the info you get on the board might not be best for your situation. You will find lots of support here as questions come up and as you continue to lose weight.

Congratulations and remember it gets easier after each week and the first weeks before your first fill will be for healing, not losing. Slow and easy and in just one year you will be looking in the mirror and seeing a new body!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
