First Fill Question

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

My name is Saida. I live in Central NY. I was banded on 11-10-05. I had a first fill on 12-13-05 (1 CC in an Inamed 4CC band). I felt no different than prior to the fill. I can eat "normally"... meaning that I feel no restriction and I can eat as much as before surgery. I was on the MediFast diet (liquid Protein shakes) for 4 months pre-op. I lost 30 pounds pre-op, I have lost a total of 5 pounds since surgery (nothing in the last 4 weeks). I am curious to know how many fills it takes to feel the restriction. I have a second fill scheduled for 1/3/06. I pray that one gets me shedding weight. The surgery went well. I had a barium swallow study the dy after surgery. I've healed well. I feel terrific. I'm just not losing weight like I thought I would. I'm not worried yet as I have read that soemtimes it takes as many as 3 adjustments to feel a restriction. I would like to hear from anyone that has had a similar experience.

Saida

Banded 11-10-05

Highest weight: 214 lbs. Pre-Op weight: 184 Current weight: 179

I had to have a few fills before I had any restriction. You do need to take it slowly though as some fills won't kick in for 2-3 weeks. I waited 6 weeks between fills.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
