Well, I have lost 37 lbs. since starting the pre-op diet on 11/8 and was banded on 11/22. Since then, my shirts no longer attach themselves to my stomach. My bra is now on the tightest hook. My inner thighs are gradually beginning to stop rubbing together. My husband can wrap his arms around me again. My Pandora Bracelet slides right off of my wrist when it use to be so snug I could barely get one finger under it and it is the largest size. My panties are sagging. My pants legs are dragging the ground because the waist is getting too big.

Most of all, I was able to control my eating at a Christmas party last night! I could actually see my plate for once without it being covered on every inch by food. I got one chicken tender and removed the breading, on teaspoon of a sour cream/salsa dip I make (with no chips), a teaspoon full of Ro-Tel dip (with no chips), one deviled egg, and 4 pieces of buffalo popcorn chicken (about the size of a nickel). Oh, and I grazed by the desert table and didn't put one thing on my plate!!

So, to anyone who is watching this forum and wondering if Lap Band is right for you, I say go for it! It will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself. You deserve the best treat ever.....a new life!

Congratulations!!! This is so encouraging.. I am glad to read this...Thank you!!

I was banded on Nov 29..I weighed at the dr this past Monday and had lost 10 lbs..I was so disappointed but the nurse said that I was fine...This past week I have not weighed but the pants that I wear to work have been so tight that it was such a relief to get home to get them off...Now I can pull them off with out unbuttoning them...!!!!I was so happy!...My shirts are so loose except the ones that were really "form fitting" before the surgery!! My bra is so loose...Duct tape is gonna take on a new meaning... I'm loving it!!!

My feet don't hurt like they used to but that might be in my head...I am anxious to weigh again but am going to put it off for another week!

Congratulations on your hard work. I was banded on 11/29 and have lost about 10 pounds since then. I found that I am now able to wear some underwear that was previously too snug. I grabbed a pair of jeans i use to wear and was pleased they fit , although a bit tight in the waist. The next day the area around my band was so sore and it has taken about 3 days to stop hurting. I guess I need to wait a bit longer to fit into them.

Also, my doctor said that I should not be bending over a lot. He said that scar tissue has to form around the port and doing a lot of bending can cause it to flip. So, i am now using a grabber!

Congratulations! It is empowering when we do something like this for ourselves. Over thanksgiving we were traveling and I thought that I had chosen well only to find out that the small salad had 400 some calories and the cup of Soup called "vegetable" was something made out of lapband hell! I forgave myself upped my exercise regime and lost 3 lbs that week. First time I stopped beating myself up and just moved on. After y weekly weigh in and found out that I lost....boy, did I feel great! No psychological beat up, just positive planning with great results. It is what we do with our situation and how we deal with ourselves.:)

It is the little successes that can be more important then what the scale says. i am hoping to not get stuck in my mother's dinning room chairs this year.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
