Banded almost 5 days and i'm a bit concerned about my steri=strips. I try not to get them too wet when I shower, but it's kind of inevitable. I don't want them coming off, but I don't see them last but a few more days. My post-op with my surgeon isn't until January 6th. Should I try to an alternative or see what the surgeon thinks?

My steri strips are still on but they are definitely peeling up at the edges. I shower as normal and let them get wet. There's nothing wrong with getting them wet. My doc said that i am not to pull them off under any circumstance. I'm 8 days post op.

I had steri-strips and my doctor removed them at my 1 week post op appointment. So if they fall off on their own I wouldn't worry about it!

As a nurse I can answer this one! Take advantage of this one because I can't answer many other questions on this site!! It's ok to get the steri strips wet, when you take a shower it's best to use anti-bacterial soaps. No baths until your doc gives you the go ahead. You should not intentionally remove the steri-strips. If they come off before you see your doctor on their own that's fine but don't go out of your way to remove them. Even if they are hanging. One your doc sees you and confirms you are healing appropriately, he or she will remove the stranglers. Even if that's two weeks from now. Hope this helps.:)

I'm 5 days post op too and my steri strips are peeling at the edges and they itch a little. I'm think that's because I'm healing, but it's hard not to scratch them! I was told to tape Saran wrap over my incisions while I shower.

I was instructed to take mine off on the 7th day after surgery. The incisions were nicely healing by that time, I was pleasantly surprised.

I had mine removed on my i week post op appointment. Everything was healing nice. I took showers and got mine wet. One of the strips feel off on day 6 but everything look good so I did not worry.

I am very allergic to steri-strips so I was sent home with band-aids on my incisions and was told to use antibacterial soap.

I'm jealous!!! I had 17 staples. I wonder why different surgeons use different methods?

Just let them fall off as they will. Once they fall off check the site(s) to make sure that you are healing well...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
