Your First Fill

Recommended Posts

Can any of you tell me how much you got when you received your first fill? I thought I remembered hearing that it should be somewhere between 0.3 and 0.5 cc's, but I got my first fill last Tuesday (before Christmas wouldn't you know it) and I got a full 2.0 cc's. Just wondering if that's normal.

My first was 2.0cc's also. I was fine. I know there are different bands out there and some hold more then others. I have a 4cc band...I am currently @ 2.2 and I feeling really good right now.

I got 1.6 in a 4 cc band - I waited 8 weeks to get a fill and the doc said I should have gotten a fill after 4 weeks so he gave me a huge fill to "catch me up", and still that 1st fill did NOTHING! Now I have some restriction w/ my 2nd fill, but not as much as I want so I am going to get another small fill soon.

Thanks for the replies.

I have no say in the matter of when I get my fills and how much I get. I had my band placed in June of 2005, went for my first check up in October 2005 and he wouldn't give me a fill because he said I was still losing weight on my own (had lost 30lbs). I went back last Tuesday and had only lost 2lbs since the checkup in October and he said he would give me a normal fill, but I begged and pleaded and even told him he was the sexiest doc I'd ever seen just to get him to give me more. LOL I don't know what changed his mind, but I watched that 3cc syringe empty down to a remaining 1 cc and then I got up and kissed him. LOL However, I don't feel is was much for me. I have a 5cc band (I'm living in the Netherlands) and the first 3-4 days, I could barely eat anything but now it seems everything passes thru too quickly and easily. But I have to learn to live with it because he will not consider a new fill until April *sigh*

I just had my first fill 2 days ago and I can really tell the difference. I got 1.12 cc and it was done with a flouroscopy (?) It was really neat! He let me watch as the barrium went through and they took xrays. I even got to keep the xrays! I was banded in Mexico by Dr. De La Garza. I love him!

I've not had a fill yet and I honestly dont know how my doc does it - whether he's aggressive or not.

I'm sooooo happy with where I am right now. I can eat about a cup at a time which is enough to actually enjoy the taste of something, it keeps me full for hours, but no sign of discomfort, pbing and I just feel there wont be any problem foods as I try more and more things either. I feel like I'd rather have to employ a little willpower and still be able to eat a wide range of things than never to enjoy a steak on the barbie again, but I guess I've come this far on this journey, I have to see it through now. But I tell you, I'd be the one lining up to have fill taken out when I've lost my weight to see if I can maintain with less restriction, lol. I dont fancy the thought of lots of restriction but I guess I'll be ready for it when it's time.

My first fill was 6cc in my 14cc band. I think I will need at least one more to find that "sweet spot" I've heard so much about.

There is no exact science to getting a fill. Everyone is different and the spectrum is very broad.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
