Those of you who are banded, do you exercise?

Recommended Posts

Exercise is definitely an integral part to your weight loss. You'll certainly lose, in the beginning, due to difference in intake, however, your body will adjust to that intake eventually. Also, the tone of your body mass will show the difference. ie, more loose skin versus tighter, more toned skin. For me, personally, I can slack off the exercise and physically SEE and feel the difference in my body mass. Where my legs were more muscular when I was exercising more often will quickly become more flabbish and unsightly. :) Of course!! Exercise, exercise, exercise!!

I exercise four times per week. Running and cross-trainer. I have just went thru revision surgery and it is helping me combat this weight gain that I have struggled with since unfill, surgery, barely any fill, etc. If I didn't eat crap I probably would loose. But for me 153 is ok, not really where I liked previously. I felt more comfortable in a size 8 and 140 lbs. But until I am restricted I struggle? Go figure. I also am almost 4 years out so the doc said my stomach isn't a normal virgin one that would respond to the band like it did in the beginning. As long as I am restricted and keep my eating to 1 cup to 1.5 cups eating wise choices, exercising I was able to loose. best wishes to you.

I agree, leatha. After a good lower-body workout my calves are rock hard! If I don't do lower-body for another week or so I can see those muscles starting to dwindle. I have exercised every single day since two weeks after being banded. I alternate upper- and lower-body weight training every other day and on the other days I do high intensity interval cardio training. My question is why would my body lose on more calories???

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
