Protein shakes- UGH!!!

Recommended Posts

OK, I stated my preop diet and am heavily relying on Protein Shakes now. This leads me to the question: Which ones taste good? I've tried several, and they range from OK to revolting. There has got to be some that are a little more palatable, and I'm sure my fellow message board members know which ones they are. C'mon, guys- hook a girl up! :)

Are you doing the HMR800?, I like both the vanilla and chocolate, mix with Water and shake it up in my GNC shaker.< /p>

I'm loving my Ultimate Muscle Protein by Beverly. Each scoop is 20g of protein, 130 cal and 4 carbs. It's a little pricey but I like the taste of it. Cheap or expensive, protein that doesn't taste good is protein you will not drink.

Optimum Nutrition 100% whey Gold Standard, Caramel Toffee

This is the best Protein I've ever had. I've gone through 3 2lb tubs already (had to restart 2 week pre op diet 12 days in).

Get it on Amazon at GNC if you need it immediately. All of their stuff tastes pretty good.

I got very tired of the shakes and now drink the Protein H2O its really good, it's from the Muscle Milk Products. It's a little expensive but I figure I'm saving a lot of money by not going out to eat.

I found an awesome product at bariatriceating.com. today was my first day to use it so i was a bit nervous. but you go their site and click on shop and Protein powders. it is called BE Pure Isolate Protein. IT HAS NO FLAVOR AND NO TEXTURE. No Fat no or low carbs (i dont have the package in front of me). It mixes with anything. I promise. i drank it with chicken broth for lunch today and it turned it a little milky but no bad taste or grit. I praised God for this. Cause i did not want to drink a RTD shake. they are too thick and too sweet. please give this site a try. they have other flavors also. But i know that i would not make it through this pre-op plan without it. Good luck !

sorry to say this but I could not find one Protein Drink that i liked. I hated everyone of them. I skipped them completely and said if i become protein deficient, oh well. it was only a week> Good luck

For a pre-mixed Protein drink I like EAS, chocolate. Have not tried the vanilla. Put it in a blender with some ice and not bad at all. I drink it straight out of the bax to. Give it a try, I don't think you will be sorry. My Dr. said no Mussell Milk, not sure why.

I'm on my pre op liquid diet and I'm using Natures Best Zero Carb Isopure Protein Powder. I have only tried the vanilla so far but I throw half a frozen banana in it and it isn't too bad. It is after all a Protein powder so don't expect it to taste fantastic. They do have other flavors I plan to try. I picked the Isopure because 2 scoops give you 50g of protein. That is the biggest amount of protein of any of the powders I looked at and since we supposedly need 60g to 80g of protein per day I figured that was the biggest bang for the buck. A 3lb tub is around $37.00 and you can check online for the cheapest place. Good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
