ENERGY LEVELS DURING PRE-OP DIET AND AFTER SURGERY

Recommended Posts

I have lots of fatigue and I am wondering if any of you noticed your energy levels dropping during the pre-op and then I am hoping that energy increases after surgery.

I was banded on Thursday and I am exhausted! I'm having a hard time getting my Protein Shakes down so I think the energy level is just related to no/low calorie intake.

I'm hoping to feel much more energetic in a week to ten days.

Thanks for responding to me. I am hoping it is the low calorie intake. I am having a lot of diarrhea and that doesn't help. Other than low energy, how are you doing? Are you having a lot of pain? Do you have any nausea?

Well I hope you are doing well. I will follow up on you at 10 days and see if you are having more energy.

I have fibromyalgia and I know from past surgeries that the anethesia causes me to be fatigued too. So it may be a while before I feel like dancing, but I know this will be worth it.

Where are you from? I am in Illinois.

Take care,

Viola

I was wondering if your energy levels have picked up now that are further out from surgery. I am 5 days post op and I still have very little energy

I have a lot of energy now. No daily naps like the week after surgery. I have no hunger though so I'm not feeling like I'm not eating much.

I am 4 days post op and at times I feel like I have a little energy other times I have none, some of may have to do with boredom. But really I think it is the fact I am getting less than 200 cal/ day. Tomorrow I am going to try a Protein Shake and hope that gives me more energy. I go back to work on Monday and am hoping I can make it through the day.

I was really tired about 2 days preop and for about 7-9 post op. It does gradually lessen every day. Best decision I ever made. I would do it over again in a second. I had lapband done at the end of August and feel great.

For some, like me, the post-op fatigue lasts for months. I think most bandsters start getting their energy back in a week or two. You learn to pace yourself. Congrats to all the newly banded and I wish you the best in your weightloss journey.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
