ONLY 1 CC FOR FIRST FILL

Recommended Posts

I know every Doctor does things different, but i had my surgery one month ago today. Everything went great and i have no regrets at all. I do want to know ,when you get your first fill, which i got yesterday am i the only one out there that got 1cc put in my band for the first time?? My Doctor said he likes to put in a little at a time to make sure that you don't have any problems. I kinda feel like i did before my fill. a bit hungry. I have to wait a month for my next fill, because of the Hoiliday and the Dr. will be on vacation I guess i was so excited about my first fill, but don't feel any different. Has anyone else only had 1 cc for first fill ???

Yeah it happened with me too.

Did your Dr put any in on surgery day?

When I went for my first fill my PA told me that I already had 2.5 cc in my band and then she added another 1cc so for my 1st fill I had a total of 3.5cc. I had my 2nd fill on 12/1 of only 1 cc so that bought me to 4.5cc now. I am feeling some restriction but I am not yet at my "sweet spot".

What I did was to make my next appt for a fill on Jan 5th. while I was right there in the office because they only do 1cc at a time.

I kinda think that to be conservative with the fills may be a little better. It's not so pretty reading the stories of those that are over filled and have to go in for an emergency unfill.

We'll get there slowly but surely.

They didn't add any fills on surgery day, then one month later (12/9) I got a 1 cc fill for my first and only fill. I then go back in January for another 1 cc fill.

My dr said that he puts the band in while it's full then he cuts the tubing and let's most of the saline out but that about 2cc will remain. I don't get a fill till end of Dec.

I was only given 1cc at my first adjustment appointment and I had to wait 6 weeks post op for that. Typically, they don't like to give adjustments any sooner than every 4 weeks, but the way the holidays have fallen I've gotten mine about every 3 weeks. My first adjustment was 1 cc, the second was 1.5cc, and my last adjustment was 1.25cc's, and I seem to have great restriction with that.

My surgeon doesn't give fills during surgery either because he believes tightening the band around an already swollen stomach can lead to erosion. The fact that he's a bit on the conservative side is, in part, the reason I chose him. I agree with msdeevee, slow and steady works for me. ;)

I've got just under 2cc in a 10cc band. At my 3rd fill appt this week, we didn't add any Fluid, because I seem to be doing pretty good. By that, I mean that I'm not getting hungry until close to 5 hours and sometimes when I eat at 5 hrs, I'm not really hungry and just eat something, because I need to get something in me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
