Oh no, this really sucks! I know MRSA seems to be all over the place now. I have 4 friends that have had MRSA in the past three months. I'm glad they did find that you have it so that you can treat it. Once everything gets resolved, I hops your surgery goes well. What about MLK weekend in January?

From my understanding most people are actually carriers of MRSA; it just becomes a problem when it enters an open wound or a mucus membrane. That does suck, but you DEFINATELY don't want to have surgery and end up infected from that.

That does suck. I hope you get a new date soon. I definately understand when you have been doing the liquid diet. It sometimes feels like you are on an emotional rollercoaster. Hopefully you will get to be off the rollercoaster soon.

MRSA can be fatal. If not to you, then to the staff at the hospital. Regardless of how frustrated you may be, keep in mind delaying your surgery could very easily save your life.

Hang in there.

Oh boy.... I go tomorrow for my pre-op testing... I wasn't nervous, till I read this! I had a stomach flu durring the two week liquid diet and when I got finished with that, I caught a cold... do you know if that will automatically be a NO during the pre-op testing?

I have a cold now, and have since thursday. I'm supposed to get mine tomorrow. My doctor didn't seem to care.. Idk! The anesthesiologist seemed a little worried though. I'm worried can you go under with a cold?

Think of the complications you will be avoiding instead. MRSA is a nasty little bug that would've been quite happy to nestle up in you incisions and cause you terrible pain, it could've infected your band as well and then were would you be?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
