Hi there, yes I am being banded next Friday 18th Feb in Sydney. I too have loads of nerves. I am currently on the pre-op Optifast, which is going OK, and surprisingly I am not massively hungry, although I am getting rather bored of the tastless shakes etc.

good luck with your banding on 21st.

Hi, I was also banded on Feb 21st by Dr Dolan and have now lost just over 20kg. My band has not really helped me as I have no restriction, can eat whatever I like. So I have been very disciplined, exercising and limiting myself to about 700 calories a day. I have already had a 5ml fill, but again, no difference. I have a second fill next week, so I have my fingers crossed that I finally feel some restrtiction. I have not lost any weight in the last 3 weeks, so my 20kg loss was rather rapid. I am now 85kg, half way to my goal of 65kg. I have gone from a size 20 to a 14 in less than 2 months. I feel great, except for the fact that the weight loss seems to have come to a stop so quickly.

What about you?

I found it really difficult to begin with. I still have days I find it hard I wont lie.

I went to the hobart private i was only in overnight but i had 2 weeks off work in total. very worthwhile but i think there should be more councelling before having the proceedure.

Hope your surgery went well

mine went well, just overnight. im coming up for a fill next wednesday. thats my first. ive had issues with bad eating habits... too quick, all that sort of thing. . its caused me a lot of pain and upset. im learning but slow. having red wine has been difficult for me as well.. ive had to take a stand just yesterday about it.

i had no counselling at all... no lead up diet to prepare myself.. i know what you mean. i think there should be both.

i hope it all works out well for you... i know i wouldnt change my mind, it was just a shock, and like i said, ive had issues that ive had come back in, or try to. Im over that now though. i hope i am anyways. ive lost quite a bit of weight ... nearly 1 1/2 stone... about 18 pounds. thats helped me tremendously.

How are you back at work now?? are you finding it easy to have the right food while at work?? is the cold weather spiking your appetite like it is mine? when do you have your first fill?? judy

I had my first fill Feb 2011, but i have recently started having reflux issues so had to get some taken out. currently at 4.8ml in my band. do find it difficult but surprisingly cruskits are amazingly easy to eat so them with tuna is amazing. My DR Tony has got a chef from the mainland coming down tomorrow and thurs to help show his patients the bestfoods to cook and how to cook them so I am really looking forward to that.

On my bad days when things stick i actually find it easier not to eat as it supresses my appetite as i'm scared to eat which is stupid.

Hope i havent scared you too much. but honestly give cruskits ago. even if just with cream cheese or Peanut Butter :)
