  1. I had my first fill Feb 2011, but i have recently started having reflux issues so had to get some taken out. currently at 4.8ml in my band. do find it difficult but surprisingly cruskits are amazingly easy to eat so them with tuna is amazing. My DR Tony has got a chef from the mainland coming down tomorrow and thurs to help show his patients the bestfoods to cook and how to cook them so I am really looking forward to that. On my bad days when things stick i actually find it easier not to eat as it supresses my appetite as i'm scared to eat which is stupid. Hope i havent scared you too much. but honestly give cruskits ago. even if just with cream cheese or Peanut Butter
  2. I found it really difficult to begin with. I still have days I find it hard I wont lie. I went to the hobart private i was only in overnight but i had 2 weeks off work in total. very worthwhile but i think there should be more councelling before having the proceedure. Hope your surgery went well
  3. Im on ones like that and I have had no problems to date, i use to take 2 at a time i have just learnt to take one at a time and gargle Water after taking them
  4. Hey, I was nervous and thought about backing out right up until i went to actually have the surgery. What I will tell you though is that the band is the best thing I have ever done for my self. Im losing weight and it is amazing, im fitting into clothes I haven't fit into in 2 years. I wont lie it is hard especially with the post op diet but I would never go back now Good luck
  5. Congratulations on 50lbs!!!! thats a great accomplishment I know i will be successful its just getting through this first stage
  6. Hi, Im having pain on my left side also and I'm 5days post-op, i don feel like its gas it only happens when i move in certain ways. is this normal?? Jess
  7. Hi Vicki, I was banded on the 24th. bit sore on my left hand side near my belly button (im guessing where the band is) if i bend or move the wrong way. are you experiencing much pain? Jess
  8. Hi January Bandsters, I am now 2days post-op. I feel sore but this morning was alot better than yesterday. I am craving food (I did not have to do a pre-op diet) and not feeling fulfilled on liquid. I am desperately after recipes with some flavor or substance and i know its hard due to this being a liquid only stage. My surgeon has said all went well and everything is where it should be. What I am nervous about now is what if i dont lose the weight after going through all this
  9. Ive been completely open, Im really bad at keeping things secret. I am a little scared now (2days post op) that I will fail and everyone will know but fingers crossed i will be a success story
  10. Hi Im Jess, Im 23yo from Hobart Aus, starting weight 249lb or 113.2kgs. I have thought about Lapband since i was 21 and being almost 24 I want to eventually be a fit healthy mid twenties woman. I know this isnt a quick fix but I am excited and terrified and anxious all at the same time. I think the qualifications for the surgery must be different in australia as I didn't have to go to any counselling or wait months for approval, I went to my first consulation with my surgeon on the 21st of december after being referred by my doctor. I also have not been advised of any pre surgery diets or anything like that which worries me as everyone seems to be on one. I am scheduled for surgery at 9am on the 24th of January and I see it as me reclaiming my life back I was excited to find this forum as I am going to need as much support as I can Good luck to you all and I hope to get to know you better as our journeys continue
  11. I dont have words of wisdom but the fat person in me is having the same fear, I love red meat and it kills me to know i may not be able to eat steak again even in smaller portions. I am excited for the procedure and a little apprehensive as I love food but I dont want to eat plain food forever, but my love of food has got me here in the first place. I get my band on Jan 24 good luck with yours
  12. Hi, Im having mine done Jan 24 by Dr Tony Patinotis in Hobart. So I am also a little nervous mainly about foods i will and wont be able to eat and recovery times from the surgery. At the end of the day im excted to start my life over Good luck with your surgery Jess
