Got my 4th fill today lots of burping and oddness...

Recommended Posts

I got my 4th fill today which brought me to 6 cc's in a 10 cc band. My surgeon said most people hit their sweet spot between 5 and 6. I drank Water and it went down fine.

I'm on liquids now. I'm burping like mad and I sometimes feel like I have air trapped. Like I need to burp and can't. I'm not using straws or drinking anything carbonated. Is this normal or is my band maybe too tight?

Earlier I was drinking some Water. It went down fine but a few minutes later I got this overwhelming urge to throw up. My mouth started watering like mad and I fought the urge to throw up for almost 5 minutes until it passed.

Is this normal? I go back on foods Thursday.

You sound very close to maximum restriction. Yeah I definitely got the feelings you described as I got close to my sweet spot. But remember the fill would have you extra tight right now, so stay on liquids (go SLOW with them) and take it easy when you got back onto solid foods. Make sure you chew well and eat slowly.

Try not to PB, coz that causes even more swelling and can take you to the point of feeling way too tight and/or needing some fill out. Hopefully in a week or so things settle and you can 'test' your restriction levels to see if you're too tight, too loose or just right.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
