Had my panniculectomy yesterday

The initial pain when they first woke me was an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10.

That lasted less than a half hour. It's been 30 hours or so and I haven't felt an ounce of pain since.

I was estimating they'd remove 10 - 20 pounds and it only turned out to be a little less than 7 pounds.

I feel great now but I have to walk hunched over like a 90 year old man.

The surgeon says they have lots of pictures during surgery. I will post them when I get my hands on them.

Bob...were you released the same day as surgery? Good to hear you are doing as well as you are with no major pain. Sorry, but I forget if you talked about where your cut would be located. Hip to hip????

Great news it's done and dusted, bob! I hear you on having to walk around hunched over, it's not fun but it won't last forever.

Even with having a full body lift, they removed only about 9lbs of skin from me, so am not surprised that they only took 7lbs from you.

Rest up! Hope you feel no more pain and keep feeling great!

Unfortunately, I am fighting the nicotine demon. First cigarette when I came home gave me such a head rush that is scared the shit out of me and I swore I wouldn't light another.

I just put the 5th one out. I need to stop this insane habit before it kills me.

I only have 2 left and can't drive and my neighbors would never drive to get more. So, hopefully tomorrow will be easier.

PS. They released me about 24 hours following surgery. Not same day.

Bob, you've been my role model here since I first found this place. I am immensely proud of you and what you've accomplished in such a short time. I'm finally being banded the day after tomorrow, so am where you were a year ago. I hope I can report such an excellent journey as yours a year from now. I wish you nothing but continued success and a rapid, painless healing from this latest surgery. Good luck!

As for the cigarettes, if I can offer my personal experience: I quit smoking eleven years ago after more than thirty years as a heavy-duty 2+ pack a day smoker. I had quit a hundred times before then, for varying amounts of time, from a few minutes to as long as seven months. But I always went back to them. I finally realized I had never felt like an ex-smoker, always that I was in-between packs. I always felt when I'd stopped smoking that I'd be smoking again at some point. And I always did.

The turning point for me came the day I came to the thundering conclusion that I didn't have a smoking habit. I realized I was a nicotine addict. Just as bad (to me) as a heroin addict or being an alcoholic, and I was just as addicted. And just like that, I quit. I ddn't STOP smoking, I QUIT. And I haven't lit one since. I have absolutely zero desire, because I know, just like an alcoholic or a heroin addict, that I can't have just one cigarette, or I'll be back at it. Changing my frame of mind from thinking of myself as a smoker to accepting that I was a nicotine addict completely changed my entire attitude. No drug was going to control my life, and that was that. I've never looked back.

I only have 1 cigarette left and it WILL be my last.

I had a pretty bad cocaine habit 15 years ago and quit without any effort. I realized one day that I hadn't done coke in 6 months and it was over.

Nicotine is much worse than coke because it is so readily available.

Good luck on your weight loss. It really is easier than you think as long as you keep your head high and don't set unreachable goals.

Hi Bob, had mine done May 3 I agree pain wasn't that bad after the first day. results ar pretty good and still healing.

I thought the weight of the skin remove was more as well, Dr said most people believe that. mine was about 6 lbs.
