Stomach upset is it related to Lapband procedure

Hello I had the Lap Band procedure 5 years ago. It is the best thing i have ever done. went from 103 k's to 78k's. Over time I have had a recurring stomach upset that leaves me very lethargic and fatigued. This time the attacks seem to be recurring more often. I thought I was allergic to milk and dairy, went off that and it seemed to work however a week later it is back and i have not had dairy. As soon as the pain in my stomach leaves my energy is back, but this week i can crash after every time I eat. has anyone any clues as to what I could be doing that is not agreeing with me. I am usually a very active person and cannot handle being debilitated like this. Margaret

Margaret I don't know if its band related but if I were you I would definately get a check up at the doctors. You never know what it could be.

Margaret, i was just reading your post. I do to have same issues, comes and goes i have only had my band for 5 months now. I have this feeling in my stomach like a

sickness that comes two to three days and then goes again. I to thought it was due to foods my stomach couldn't handle, its not the case. I feel lethargic want to sleep for an hour or two.

Put off my food. I did think there was an issue with my port, tube, then band..So many things were going through my head. then i come good again. Very strange. If anyone does have

an answer tell me to please.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
