Hello!

I'm a newbie too and do not live in Ireland- sorry! BUT I am also living overseas and being banded on the 6th Dec. So we have some things in commonsmile.gif

I'm 38 this month, married with 2 children (girls 3 and 5 years) and want to lose around 53 kg (117 pounds)

At the moment I am really nervous and wondering if I'm doing the right thing. I'm also having my gall bladder removed at the same time and hope this has been the right decision. I've wanted the lap band for a very long time, but now that it is really happening I'm scared and excited at the same time.

I haven't told anyone about the surgery (except for my husband).

I would love to have a buddy to share stories and to support one another and hopefully a mentor could help us both us out with encouraging words and advice.

Have a safe trip to Belgium and I wish you all the very best for Monday with a speedy recovery.

Hi, hope the op went well for you.. would love if you could let me know how you got on.. I took the first step today (after two years of consideration...) and finally booked the consultation with Dr Bruyne in Wicklow.. Meeting with him next Monday for what I hope will result in changing things for me moving forward..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
