I was banded on August 30. I have lost 40 lbs so far and am extremely satisfied with my results. I did a 5K two weeks ago and since then I have felt so fatigued. I have still been going to the gym, but I feel like my muscles just aren't recovering. I was thinking that maybe I wasn't getting enough calories, so I started to eat a bit more, but now I have moved to eating really high calorie foods. I do know that I have been maintaining my Protein intake of at least 60-80/day. I don't know what to do, I still feel so fatigued. I don't have much restriction, so I can eat just about anything which is frustrating also. Any advice? Thanks!

give your doc a call to see if he/she might want to do some blood work, you could be low on iron...or you might just need to take some B-12 while you get your strength back.

wishing lots of luck!:(

Are you taking a multi-Vitamin daily? If you are and you're taking children's versions.. they may not be enough for you.

Getting back to the doc and getting lab-work done is a good idea. I have to go to my PCP for that, as my surgeon isn't big on that type of follow up.

If you're working out at the gym every day, take a look at what you are doing. If your gym has trainers, talk to one of them about your routine.. see if they can give you some advice. I know that at my gym, they greatly discourage doing weight training two days in a row. Cardio can be done daily, but weights shouldn't be done any closer than every other day.

As to the foods, are you keeping a food journal? It can be on paper or online. I like dailyplate.com, but there are lots of other places and many are free. One of the many benefits of keeping a food journal is that you can print out a few days worth to take in to your appt so that your doc can see your choices and give advice. Also can support you when you really need a fill.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think that I am going to see if I can get some labs done and I'll start writing my foods down again. I was writing, but then the weight was coming off so nicely I stopped. Guess it's time to start back up! Thanks!

Even though I take a multi-Vitamin daily as I am supposed to, I ended up Vit. D and Iron deficient on top of that, determined by my PCP on a blood test.

So now I take my multi, Iron, and Vit. D. It is just very hard for us to get in all the Vitamins and minerals we need through our diets.

Getting a work-up is a great idea.

You might also get a thyroid panel run, if you haven't had one in the past.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
