:( I recently went for my 1st fill but after 6 tries, the dr couldnt find the port.

he said he could feel alot of scar tissue.

Ive got to back next month to try again, but it was so painfull.

What happens if he cant find it again?

Anyone else had this problem?

Sounds like your port may be flipped. If your surgeon can't find it again next time he will most likely try to do your fill under fluroscopy. That way he can see the port while he is trying to get to it.

If in fact the port is flipped and he is not able to access it, then a small surgery to correct the port may be nessasary.

My nurses use ultra-sound to locate the port. Ask if that is an option.

My port is also hard to find and I feel your pain. I had my 2nd fill last week and it was even harder to find than the 1st time. the pushing and poking to find it is painful, the position I was laying in was uncomfortable. The doctor was ready to quit and schedule my fill under xray and I said "I'm ok to keep trying" so he kept at it and finally got it. He said the same thing, a lot of scar tissue. I have a huge bruise from the pushing around and about 10 needle pokes from the appointment. He said I'm the most difficult port he's had in years. I'm already dreading my next appointment in a month.

Hopefully they'll find yours next time. He said once I've lost more weight it should get easier to find so I'm hoping to lose a bunch this month!! muahahahahaha

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
