Banded for 3.5 Weeks and Starving -- Need Menu Ideas

Recommended Posts

I am in need of some serious help. I am 3.5 weeks out and starving. I do not get my first fill for another 2 weeks and have no restriction what so ever at this point. I havent been sick in the slightest and have lost 23 lbs thus far but for the last week I have caught the scale toggling back and forth between 232-235. I want to contribute it to what I am eating. I know Im not getting nearly enough protien. I work full time and have a 2 year old so I dont have a ton of time to prepare. Im suppose to be on purres but I find myself eating anything I consider mushy. I need some ideas of things that are easy and fast. Even things that can be kept at the office or acceptable drive thru ideas... Please help me I have got to figure this out.

I am on purees again right now since I had a fill last week. I do cottage cheese and hummus. Cottage cheese has a decent amount of Protein. I also do fat free refried Beans warmed up and then I put them in a mini belnder with some fat free shredded cheddar and puree real good. I put that in a bowl and top with fat free sour cream, salsa, and guacomole. It is really good, I call it a burrito in a bowl. oatmeal is quick and easy, and I have actually been eating baked potatoes(chew REALLY well and take small bites, TRUST ME!!!) with basically the same stuff on it as the beans minus the guacomole. Make sure you do your Protein Shakes. If you make them using Skim Plus you get like an extra 10 grams of protein on top of what the powder delivers.

Hi there - i have 3 year old and 2 year old - I got first fill a week a go and am struggling to eat anything! But have made myself a big vat of homemade Soup - cook off any veg and add some stock and blend - nutricious lovely and relatively fat free. I used left over roasted veg from hubby's roast t'other day.

I notice others using a heck of alot of cheese and cream etc (cottage cheese is great), I'm no TV chef but frying stuff and adding fat laden products is not gonna help...that's how I got to my size in first place! Scrambled eggs (in microwave) with rye crispbreads is quick and easy (good source of fibre and protein) but found this link for you (i'm gonna learn a thing or two off it too!!!)Healthy & Quick recipes

Hope this helps x

Cooking, Baking and recipes - LAP-BAND

There's some good ideas in there.

I think with weightloss most of the time comes with preparation of food though - eating pre-packaged non-fresh foods can lead you to trouble.

I personally eat a lot of oranges, and 'For me' yogurt, which contains only 70 calories for a 175g tub.

Baby food is good too! Just don't get the savoury ones - they're pretty gross.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
