Possible Band Slip???

Recommended Posts

Has anyone experienced symptoms from a band slip? I am having pain that feels like indigestion. No nausea, no vomiting, no other symptoms. Any ideas?

:sneaky:

I don't know, KimmieLou. I am paranoid as well because I have been having indigestion. From what I have read on here, if the band slipped we would be vomiting and in pain. I am loading up on Pepto Bismol and Gas X to see if the indigestion goes away. It's been 5 days and came on after drinking diet coke for three days straight. Did you eat anything that could have brought on the indigestion?

You have been drinking diet coke?????????????? Well I am just envious because carbonated drinks are the one think my doctor has absolutely forbidden. :/

Otherwise, if your band is too tight that can cause acid, and a slight unfill will relieve it.

I was never a drinker of soft-drinks, so the ban on diet coke hasn't been an issue with me in the two years since I have been banded. But there were a few days this week where I was running late for work so grabbed a diet coke out of the vending machine instead of stopping at Starbucks for coffee. Never again! I see why it is "forbidden." It's not worth the pain!

Stupid question...my band has been at the correct fill for the past two years...why would it suddenly be tight and need a slight unfill? Does it have anything to do with losing weight?

I am sure every person is different, but in my case.... stress and hormones are usually my problem. I just had a slight unfill today. My nurse... who also has the band, said her band gets tight with air travel.

Thanks for your reply, hope it is working out better for you. I'm tight in the morning and at random other times...but never for an extended period where I would think I would need an un-fill.

With colder weather now in the winter time I have one hell of a time with the band experiencing many of your symtoms. Have to drink more warm liquids all day. Another thing that I have big faith in is Aloe Vera juice. It has both healing value to the stomach and also the digestive system. I read this on a post somewhere, tried it and discovered that it really helps me. Of course we are all different but give it a whirl. You can get a bottle for about $10 at walgreens. jake

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
