Worried about a fill...need some reassurance, please!

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I was supposed to go in for my first fill today, but called and canceled the appointment because I am going to be out of town this weekend. I was scared that I would be uncomfortable, or be sick from the fill while I'm on the road. I am actually doing pretty well for having nothing in the band, which makes me question whether I needed it at all, but that's a whole other post. I was banded on Sept. 4 and I have lost 35 pounds since August 18th. I am happy with the way things are going, but I know deep down things would be going even that much better if I had some restriction...now I'm rambling. Any thoughts or suggestions on this matter would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If your not satisfied with your meals, or getting hungry inbetween I would get a fill. You say you don't have restriction, a few fills should provide that. I think you were way smart to cancel your appt. because of going out of town. You don't want to have trouble while your on the road. Good luck!

Thanks. Yeah, I don't know why I am so scared to get this first fill. I need to get over it, because I know that is how the band works anyway! Thanks for your comment!

Amanda,

I promise you that it is no big deal. I always make things worse in my head than they really are - sounds like you are probably the same way. If I had to compare it to something, I would say the pinch is about the same as when they draw blood and less discomfort than when I just got my recent flu shot.

As far as how you will feel afterwards - everyone is different. I did not feel any different after my first 3 fills, mainly because I have a bigger band (14cc) and my MD went gradual with the fills.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Congrats on your weight loss so far!!

Cynthia

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
