I am 2 months post-op...and I'm down 44lbs. I am very excited...and I am not expecting to get any adjustment tomorrow at my doctor's appt.

My question is when I don't sit up straight I get a "twinge of uncomfortability/pain" in the port area. Does anyone else get that feeling?

Also, sometimes during intercourse...which is weird cuz it is up just under my ribs...but I sometimes feel uncomfortable. Does anyone think it is just still in the healing process? Or if someone does get this...is it on-going?

I am planning to ask surgeon tomorrow...but was curious if anyone else gets that.

I'm one month post-op and will, from time to time, feel my port when I'm slouched on the couch. I have a habit of sitting with my feet pulled up on the couch and will occasionally get a "pain" from what feels like bending or moving my port.

When I saw the PA a couple of weeks ago at my two week post-op appointment, she said that was fairly normal during the healing phase and assured me I'm not damaging my port in any way.

Since you're going to be there tomorrow anyway, I'd just let them know what you're feeling and make sure everything is okay.

My first port never usually bothered me. Sometimes it would move a little and I could feel it but it wasn't anything bad.

With my second band/port my port seemed to sit on a nerve or something because I would always get strange pains there. I asked my doc he checked it out and couldnt see anything wrong.

I just had my port moved and the pain is finally gone. After 3 months of it, I am glad

I would def ask your doc.

thanks everyone! I did ask, and she said it was normal...foreign part in the body and all and my body should get used to it. I will keep your response in mind AlienBandit - just in case it doesn't go away...but it isn't constant...just when I slouch of bend my body in any way...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
