Went for an Unfill- Reflux

Recommended Posts

I was on the fence about this- not able to eat much this past week and a half but not really hungry (not true hunger anyway) and losing fine. However last night and today put me over- I guess all the reflux finally got to me because my throat hurt as well as the back of my tongue- and all day just one spoon of food felt so yucky. So I went to an appointment I has set up (thanks for the great advice fellow bandsters) and he took out 1/2 of the the 2cc fill I had gotten. OMG it is awesome! I didn't even realize how dehydrated I was even though my lips were all wrinkly looking. I drank so much (not at once of course) since the unfill- still drinking now.... I think I am too loose now but am going to leave it be until I get back from Disney. Gonna ask my doc to be slow on the fills because my sweet spot is somewhere between 8 and 9cc... how exciting to almost be there :)

I had an unfill for the same reason. Now I am getting hungry again, which I am not happy about. The reflux started about 3 weeks after the last fill and as soon a s I mentioned it they were pulling out the 1/2 cc they had put in in August.

Glad you are feeling better. I think it's smart to wait until your back from Disney to think about a fill. Have a great time, I love it there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
